Erin Edwards knew from a very young age she wanted to be a journalist.
Erin realised her passion for news at primary school on the Sunshine Coast when she won a story-writing award from the local newspaper. After finishing a Bachelor of Journalism at the University of Queensland in Brisbane, her focus soon changed to the exciting but challenging world of television news.
Work experience with the Seven Network on the Sunshine Coast led to a cadetship in the Mackay news bureau. Erin explored everything the region had to offer, the sugar and mining industries, beautiful beaches and the Whitsundays.
Over three years she covered some memorable and tragic stories, including the birth of quads and the fatal Central Queensland rescue helicopter crash in 2003.
Now Erin has seized what she sees as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and headed further north to help start Seven Local News in Townsville.
She is looking forward to seeing more of North Queensland and meeting the people who call it home.
Erin cannot wait to barrack for the Cowboys and the Crocs, and plans to walk Castle Hill one day. |
