Hi all,

Stone the flamin’ crows…. Colleen’s Mr Stewart’s sister!

I’ve never experienced anything as funny as this in Summer Bay, and I’ve experienced so many great times here, but this tops it all. Maddie and Ric have just come back and told me all about the misunderstanding of the year, or even the last 20 years in the Bay!

It all started with a conversation between Maddie and Colleen, where Colleen was looking for me to tell me her ‘big news’. Well apparently she didn’t want to release it without me knowing first, but being Colleen and not being able to keep a secret for long, she gave Maddie a little hint, saying ‘from now on’ she was going to be ‘Colleen Stewart’.

And then it steamrolled from there. Maddie told Ric that Colleen and Mr Stewart were engaged! Then Ric confronted Mr Stewart, who without really uttering the actual words of engagement confirmed the truth, which is that Colleen is now Colleen Stewart! Completely bewildered, Ric told Leah, Irene and Belle and then they all witnessed Mr Stewart giving Colleen a brotherly-sisterly hug and confused it as a lovers embrace!

So there you have it…. That’s how someone’s news turns in to all out tabloid gossip in Summer Bay! “Alfred Stewart and Colleen Smart set to tie the knot.”

I wish I could’ve been at the ‘engagement party’ when the real story unravelled before everyone’s eyes. I am still laughing now. This is something I will take with me to remind me of how wonderful Summer Bay is. And whenever I feel down all I will have to do is think about Mr Stewart and Colleen getting hitched and I’ll be in stitches before you know it. Fair dinkim!

So Colleen Smart is now Colleen Stewart, and not through wedlock as everyone initially thought. When the diner started to collapse it was revealed that beneath lay a time capsule that was buried there sixty years before. In that time capsule was the history of the Stewart family, and a startling truth was revealed.

Mr Stewart and Colleen are actually brother and sister. And Colleen is also, that means, Morag’s sister, who is having enormous trouble comprehending. She’ll get over it, Colleen’s heart is in the right place, Morag will see that eventually.

I don’t think Mr Bartlett’s heart is ever going to be in the right place though. Poor Miles, he’s already frustrated and he's only been there a few weeks.

I’m afraid I can’t see anything but difficulty ahead for Miles trying to teach those kids at school. Miles is forward thinking and unconventional however Mr Bartlett is none of those things. His only concern is his reputation and not upsetting the powers that be. I’m sure Miles will be strong enough to fight his way through it and have some wins, but I do think he will suffer a lot of setbacks and frustration in his battle to educate the kids the right way.

After witnessing Miles tell the students in his class about why he became a vagrant, Cassie became inspired to tell her story to the students as well. But convincing Mr Bartlett that this was a good idea was a very difficult task and there has been some negative knock-on effects which Mr Bartlett has been certain to hang on to. One parent complaining, I mean really!!!

I reckon Cassie was so brave telling her story to the year 12 students, I’m so proud of her. And she’s really letting go of the need to interfere with people and their ability to deal with things in their own way.

Like Aden. When he heard that Cassie had HIV he freaked out in class and immediately left the room. Cassie said she raced after him, not realising he would of course think about the accident and the chance of having caught HIV because he came in to contact with Cassie’s blood. Then Aden lost it at her, although she was shocked she also gained a new perspective of the situation and realised she needed to let go of the need to fix it and just let him process it all in his own way. At the time of the accident Cassie could not possibly have known if she had HIV or not so she can’t feel guilty about the outcome. She can’t carry that on her shoulders as well.

I know I keep saying this but I am just so proud of her, she took such a massive step of coming out and discussing her experience of HIV with the students at school, she really is such a brave, brave person. What she did with those kids at school was so amazing. I’m so glad we are going on this trip together. I couldn’t think of anyone better to tread the open road with than Cassie. I’m really looking forward to it.

Well I’m packing everything up now, it’s not long now till Cassie and I take our first steps out in to the big wide world. How many sleeps? Seven or eight? I’m not sure. It’s daunting but exciting. I will miss Summer Bay and all it’s dramas. I really will. I’ll probably find that there is no place like it out there! But I need to go out there to find that out.

Love

Sally
