Hello Everyone,
Well, miscommunication has plagued the Bay this week in almost everyone’s lives. While all of the students have been studying hard for their HSC exams, Mattie was especially nervous, particularly for Maths. Then, during the exam, eagle-eyed Mr. Fisher saw Mattie swap her exam with Emma and sent Mattie to my office.
Mattie wouldn’t open up at first, but after some probing, she revealed to me that she was just trying to help Emma, but it meant sacrificing her own exam performance. In some ways, it’s a nice gesture of Mattie to do this, but she's jeopardising her future and I don’t believe it's worth it.
Although I was sympathetic to Mattie's situation, I still had to break the news to her that she will be failed on her Maths exam. It's nice to see someone with good intentions, but rules are rules and they are there for a reason.
I hope Mattie's going to be OK because I heard in the halls that she could be pregnant, which I doubt, but it would explain what Ric has been so preoccupied with lately. Ric has some issues of his own to deal with as well: he was picked up by the police at a drag race with Dom and Drew and I was not happy. Dom seems like a dodgy character, I must say, and he practically threatened Drew to keep quiet and not question how he gets his car parts. Drew seems blinded to this by his love for his 'Beast' and I can’t see this situation turning out positive, especially for Drew.
In other school news, Rory was encouraged by the principal of his primary school to move up into high school. I personally don’t think that he is ready for this, as he has problems making friends at his current school. High school isn’t just about academics, it's also about becoming socially involved and gaining experience. The stress of a heavier workload and making new friends could be too much for him to handle.
Rory could also be affected by Rachel’s offer to him, Jack, and Sam to move into her place. Martha is slowly accepting Sam’s role in Jack’s life. I imagine that Martha must be feeling disappointed and perhaps distressed that Sam and Jack would live together in the house that she used to share with him...
I understand Bruce has been very wary of intruders after a brick was thrown through their window. Unfortunately, he took it too far and while out patrolling the farm, he mistakenly shot Geoff in the arm. The wound wasn’t serious, thankfully, and Geoff’s guilt from poisoning the sheep is hurting him more. Bruce turned a cold shoulder to Geoff and kicked him out of the house, but then worked himself into a frenzy over Tony’s visit to Geoff in the hospital. He became so worked up that he collapsed due to his concealed heart condition. Geoff and Bruce’s relationship seems like its beyond repair, but neither of them seem to be able to apologize and have a heart to heart talk.
As much as I know that they should be up front with each other about their concerns and feelings, I’m also in a similar situation now with Brad. While he is planning away the wedding, I feel like I’m just in the background, unsure whether to tell him about my true thoughts on the situation. It was a relief to open up to Leah, and she told me to do the inevitable, to tell Brad. I’m worried about his reaction, though. I don't want to break his heart...
Brad has chosen his old friend, Henk, as his best man and Rachel is clearly distraught about it. I wonder what kind of history Rachel has with Henk? It can’t be good...
I think I'll go and play with Pippa for a while.
Love, Sally.
