Hello Everyone,
The week started off with Ric trying to persuade Mattie to come home. He just couldn't understand how she could run off with Reuben and his mates without telling anyone, especially him. Reuben's lay back attitude of 'no plans no pressure' seemed to appeal to Mattie. Apparently he said "Just move on when things get too hard." Ric and I were horrified as she is throwing away her HSC, but something is obviously troubling her very deeply.
Of course the biggest news of the week was Brad's proposal! I was so shocked as it very sudden. Brad and Rachel had taken a few days holiday and when Brad returned he was a changed man. I was still worrying about the situation at school and then he popped the question. As you know I couldn't say yes. I had an email from Jack Wilkins in the UK who felt it was too soon after Flynn and Emily died, and that's what I felt. But when the 'Blaxland' went missing I was devastated. I felt I had made a terrible mistake and knew that I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I never had a chance to tell Brad how much I loved him. If Pippa hadn't been with me I would have fallen apart...she always manages to be there when I need her the most. Anyway, thank goodness they all came back safe and sound.
When Brad got down on one knee and asked me to marry him again, of course I said yes...I couldn't bear the thought of losing him. I think everyone re-evaluated their relationships after the 'Blaxland' scare. It was Dan and Leah's anniversary, so she will never forget to buy a present again, and Martha realised after all this time that she really still loves Jack. Unfortunately, she may have realised too late as Jack was not on the boat at all, he was in the City with Sam and Rory.
Lucas got himself into some strife this week. Naomi caught him asleep under a tree outside her apartment. She was understandably a little freaked out and called the police. Luckily it was Jack who picked him up and gave him a stern talking too, warning him that Naomi could take out an AVO which would go on his record and follow him for the rest of his life. Lucas said that he was writing a story and was only doing what Naomi had told him to do 'channel his anger into his writing'. Fortunately once she had read the story, she understood his actions and told him that this could be the first step to his writing career.
One incident that concerned me greatly involved young Geoff. He has struggled to fit in at school and with the Rugby team, eventhough he is a very good player. Alf told me that he caught Aden and his mates down at the surfclub and something set off his "bulldust radar" ...(Alf's words), anyway it seems the boys had persuaded Geoff to have a quite few drinks under the pretence of 'being one of the team' and then locked him in the boot of Tony's car. It wasn't until Drew heard a knocking sound from the boot when the car was in the garage for a service, that Geoff was discovered in a very bad state. These practical jokes can go terribly wrong. Geoff could have had alcohol poisoning and died if he hadn't been found in time.
One good bit of news is that Cassie managed to bring Matilda home. I still don't know what caused her to run away, but I'm sure all will be revealed soon.
Love, Sally.
