Hello Everyone,
The Department of Education came to Summer Bay this week. Jane Wallis was here to investigate the Naomi and Lucas affair. I have to be honest with you, it was a very challenging experience and unfortunately, it is not over yet. We find out next week if Brad will be reinstated as Principal.
Brad and I told Jane the truth but it soon became apparent that Naomi did not. She also told Jane that Brad had been fired from his last job because he was discovered with marijuana in his possession. I found that very hard to believe and defended him vigorously but my efforts were undone when Bruce announced that Brad and I were ‘living in sin’ at the P&C meeting. Jane didn’t know Brad and I were a couple, but we both thought it was common knowledge.
All we can do now is wait for Jane to make her decision. I am still hopeful everything can be reversed. Before Jane left I found out from Lucas that Naomi had slept with Tony and so I immediately told Jane. It wasn’t something I enjoyed doing, but everyone in this town seems to be so preoccupied with ‘character’ at the moment that I thought it only fair she knew more about Naomi’s.
(I thought you should know that Brad was found with marijuana because he had bought it to try and relieve his dying wife’s suffering. What he did was illegal but I know what it’s like to want to try and minimise a loved one’s pain so I can understand why he did it.)
Young Lucas has been suffering through all this more than perhaps anyone. On top of the fact he is not over Naomi, he’s being teased by the other students and I just found out that Annie’s grandfather, Bruce, stormed into his house and threatened him. All that young man is trying to do is teach Annie how to read. I hope things brighten up for him soon…
Lucas is not the only person Bruce has been ‘direct’ with. He tried to force me to stop Geoff from playing football and when that didn’t work, he harassed Geoff’s coach, Tony, too. I’m told Tony set him straight after he threatened Lucas but I doubt that will change Bruce’s hardline ways…
Apparently while Tony was at the farm he discovered that Geoff has been ploughing the fields at night. Both those kids have a lot on their plates at the moment and I’m not sure what to do about it, if I should do anything at all. But with their school work and their farm work there’s not much time left for them to sleep, let alone have some fun. Tony decided to tell the footy team about Geoff’s home life and it seems to have quelled the mutiny that was brewing over Tony refusing to drop him from the team for showing up late all the time.
In other news, I heard Jack and Martha signed their divorce papers, which came as a bit of surprise considering it’s obvious to everyone (but obviously not each other) that they are still in love. I also heard that Drew has moved in with his mum, Jazz. Now that really is a surprise but the fact that she forced him into doing it after he stole a cheque from her to buy a car is not. She’s quite manipulative and Drew is really off the rails at the moment. I hope the change of living arrangements is a good thing for both of them.
Well, I best be off. Ric and Cassie’s party for Mattie and her new friends ended badly. Reuben and his boys trashed our house and it is still not entirely fixed up. Matilda seems to not be herself at the moment, which is upsetting for Ric and for me – she’s part of the family as far as I’m concerned and I have told her that. I’m going to help Ric and Cass with the last of the cleaning and see how they’re feeling about it all.
Love, Sally.
