Hello Everyone,
The week started well, Cassie loved the necklace I gave her for her 18th birthday and the kids put together a beautiful surprise party, even Pippa impressed her with her gift of 'special' paintings. But everything spiralled out of control when Cassie discovered the truth about the relationship between Jules and Jazz.
She came in crying as we all shouted 'Happy Birthday' and then rushed upstairs with no explanation. She told me later that Jazz said when she took Drew and Jules on a skiing holiday, he had tried to crawl into her bed. Of course Cassie was devasted. I heard from Leah that Drew was so furious he punched Jules to the ground, saying he never wanted to see him again.
It's heartbreaking, I tried to reassure Cass, but it's going to be a long time before she will be comfortable trusting her judgment around men.
Brad made great progress with Annie and Geoff, after some heated discussions with their grandfather Bruce. They both started school this week and Geoff is keen to join the footy team. There is alot of tension between Geoff and Lucas, I caught them in the school corridor fighting on the floor. Of course it's impossible to get any of the kids to tell me what happened, but Geoff seems such a nice kid, I hope it won't be too difficult for him to settle in.
The tension is also high between Tony and Lucas. Apparently Ric, Maddie and Lucas had borrowed Tony's boat without asking and it sank. They didn't confess to their crime and it was Geoff who 'spilt the beans'. Tony was really shocked and said to Kit "What's the point in trying to patch things up with Luc when all I get in return are lies and disrespect?"
Rachel has tried desperately to hold her marriage together, even though Hugh's departure seems to have really shaken her. She told me that she had organised a romantic dinner for Kim, but he arrived very distressed because Kit had left a note, saying she was leaving the Bay and taking Archie to the city.
Kim couldn't cope and ended up finding them in the city, holed up in a shabby rental house. He was struggling to come to terms with the guilt he felt (he admitted to Jack that he kissed Kit), when Rachel made her own confession about sleeping with Hugh! Well that was breaking point for Kim, he stormed out of the house leaving Rachel with the unhappy realisation that her gamble to save her marriage seems to have failed.
Now one person I can always rely on is Mr Stewart, he has been my 'rock' for most of my life, good, solid, loveable Mr Stewart, the heart and soul of Summer Bay. But even he has been acting a bit strangely recently. Jack stopped him for a random breath test, and he was not happy at all, and got very defensive when Jack asked for his driving license. He couldn't supply it, and when Jack came to the house later, he told Martha that Mr Stewart had failed his eye test and that's why he didn't have a license. Mr Stewart then admitted that he thought he had glaucoma and was going blind just like his Dad.
I'm trying not to panic, but we will have to get Mr Stewart to have some tests done, although he hates going to the doctors. I will let you know as soon as we get any news.
Love, Sally.
