What happened in the week May 21- May 25 (episodes 4421 - 4425)

Hello Everyone,

There were mixed emotions for Beth’s kids this week when they received an unexpected life insurance payout. They wanted to give Tony $50,000 of the money but he flat-out refused. He even got quite angry about it from what I hear. I don’t think anyone can blame the guy though, no amount of money can ever compensate for the loss of a loved one.

It’s a good thing he has Naomi around to talk to – somebody with no connections to Beth and the family. I reckon he doesn’t want to let the kids know how he’s really feeling as he wants to be strong for them. Kit had the wonderful idea of buying the gym from Amanda for him seeing as he wouldn’t accept the money. It’s a good investment for the grandkids and Beth would have wanted him to do something positive with the money.

Amanda had a surprise announcement for everyone this week – she’d decided to leave the Bay after all! It was sad to see her go but after all the dramas of recent months I think maybe it was good for her to get away and start afresh. Especially as Peter didn’t seem interested in resuming their relationship and of course Belle put the blame firmly on him.

Irene tells me that Belle was gutted to hear that her mum was leaving and so she decided to throw a little going away party for her! I hear Colleen even made a speech for her and I think it must have been nice for Amanda to leave the Bay on a high note.

Drew had a word with his dad about how miserable he looked not being with Amanda – and it seems he may have made Peter realise that he still loved her. Dan tells me that Peter’s planning on transferring to the city in order to be with Amanda!

Colleen told me that she gave Kit, Kim and Archie a coupon for a professional photo shoot of the three of them. It’s a nice idea for Archie to have when he’s older but I’m not too sure how I’d feel watching Brad playing happy families with an ex-girlfriend and their child! And that’s exactly what happened to Rachel when she came across the three of them on the beach posing for the camera…

It turns out that things are more complicated than I realised – Brad filled me in on Rachel’s dilemma. He went round to see her the other night and found her in tears and in the arms of Dr. Hugh! It turns out that she has very mixed feelings for her old pal and his one night stand with Ingrid really got under her skin.

You can’t always choose who you fall in love with, and Rachel is certainly not to blame for feeling excluded from Kim’s new role as father to Archie. Maybe if Kim had paid a bit more attention to his wife she wouldn’t be seeking comfort in the arms of another man…

We were very proud of Cassie this week for passing her driving test and she was very keen to get in some practise time in the car. Unfortunately, both Brad and I were too busy to take her out for a drive that day and so Jules offered to take her out instead. She should’ve known better than to agree to let him teach her – it’s illegal for starters!

We didn’t know where she was and were beside ourselves as it got later and later. Alf and Brad went to look for them and found them pashing in Brad’s car! Cassie told us that the car had broken down but Brad later discovered that somebody had deliberately fiddled with the engine so it wouldn’t start…

No prizes for guessing who it was! Cassie was singing Jules’ praises until I filled her on in what Jules had done to the car – needless to say she was furious! She tore strips of him and it would seem there’s no way she’d go near him again and I can’t say I’m sad to hear that. But then again, we all know how fickle teenagers can be…

Anyway guys, that’s all for this week as we’re taking Pippa to the cinema tonight.

Love, Sally.
