Hello Everyone,
At long last, we have the old Martha back! I can’t tell you how relieved I am, the whole family is so thankful that she’s finally seen Cam for what he truly is. Jack was feeling guilty that it had to get this far before she realised, but as I said, it’s not like we didn’t try to reach out to her. It was something she had to figure out for herself, in her own time. Although I shudder to think what would have happened if Jack hadn’t made it to the club in time to save her.
Cam had been released on bail after Martha turned him in for robbing the Diner. He had the cheek to go and beg her for help but Alf soon saw him off. She later went looking for him at the club and wound up accidentally getting locked in the office. Cam then broke in, cranked up the music and set about pouring petrol everywhere, so of course he didn’t hear Martha’s cries for help. Apparently he then lit a match and walked out, leaving poor Martha stuck in the burning building…
Thank God Jack got Martha’s earlier message about being trapped at the club. He headed there to pick her up but got the shock of his life when he saw the place in flames. He fought his way through the flames to reach her and got her out just in the nick if time. Alf and I raced there when we heard the news and were so relieved to see she was ok.
We all returned to Martha’s flat only to find Cam frantically packing his things for a getaway. Jack tackled him to the ground and it turns out that he was going to steal Martha’s jewellery and money! I think this banished any doubts Martha had about her feelings for him and made her realise she was doing the right thing in kicking him out her life. I asked her if she wanted to move back home but she insisted she wanted to keep a hold of her independence. I understand that but I’m just worried that she’s making the same mistake she made with Cam in not asking us for help when she needs it.
So where does this leave Jack and Martha I wonder? Tony tells me that Jack’s confused about his reawakened feelings for her and I hear they’ve shared a few charged moments over recent days. It would be wonderful if they did get back together but first I think she needs some time by herself to recover from what she’s been through. They’re always there for each other and I’m sure that if they’re meant to be together, they’ll find a way.
More heartbreaking news for Amanda as it seems that some of the damage Kelli has caused may be unfixable. Although her assets have been returned and her financial problems are over, it seems the past few months may have ruined any chance of a future for her and Peter. They briefly reunited before Peter quickly backtracked saying it hadn’t felt right. Belle was certainly not impressed and rounded on Peter and accused him of causing Amanda more unnecessary pain. Maybe Amanda will now go ahead with her plan to leave the Bay?
Brad was telling me about the kids acting up at school this week. Belle and Jules always seem to be at each others’ throats all the time and Belle embarrassed Jules by telling the whole class about his feelings for Cassie. Brad put the whole gang in detention and got them to mop up the corridors and classrooms as punishment.
But he left them by themselves to get on with it and they wound up having a water fight. I said to him later – what did you expect?! They’re all pretty feisty characters and enjoy provoking each other so something was bound to kick off. Unfortunately Cassie injured her ankle as a result which, surprisingly, caused Jules to fuss over her. I’ve seen playground teasing often enough to know that there’s always more to it than meets the eye…
I hear tensions are rising between Hugh and Rachel, especially after he brought a girl back to the house after the boy’s night out. That’s understandable – I certainly wouldn’t want random strangers being brought into my home in the middle of the night. And what with living and working together maybe things just got a bit too claustrophobic. But then again, so often in Summer Bay things aren’t always as they seem!
That’s all for this week, I’m going to meet Martha for a quick bite to eat.
Love, Sally.
