Hello Everyone,
I’m not feeling too good this week, it’s all quite sad really. What should be a happy time with Brad bonding with the kids and us being a family unit, just isn’t the same without Martha. Her decision to move out has devastated us all and I feel so helpless that she’s slipping away from us. I appreciate that she needs her independence and perhaps moving back in with us after living with Jack was difficult for her. But she seems hell-bent on self-destruction and won’t take any of our advice.
Jack feels the same, I filled him in on what’s been happening and he tried to talk to both her and Cam. Unfortunately, Jack's temper got the better of him and he ended up punching Cam for a comment he made about Sam leaving! It’s a shame because I thought that maybe she had started to listen to me after she had asked Cam for some space.
But this flicker of hope seems to have been lost now. I don’t blame Jack though, Sam and Rory’s departure is still a very sensitive area for him right now and to have Cam having a dig about it must’ve hurt him deeply.
So, Martha ended up having a house-warming party which didn’t go down too well with Colleen – I’ve had an earful already! – or the police. And unsurprisingly, the morning after the party The Diner was trashed! Poor Leah was so upset, especially as Martha refused to admit that it was her fault and apologise. Cam stepped in to pay for the damage to the coffee machine but like I said at the time, money won’t fix Martha’s attitude.
Of course Alf was furious about Martha moving out! He tried asking her for a month’s rent up front in the hope that she wouldn’t be able to afford it and would then stay. But guess who stepped in with the money for her? I’m also worried about something which Cassie saw in Martha’s bag - some kind of glittery costume. I’m convinced her new job at The Rocket Club is bad news…
Elsewhere in the Bay, it turns out that Kim still has his suspicions about James and his smoking. Kim was caught red-handed going through James’ stuff, convinced he was still carrying drugs around. Kim wouldn’t apologise to James so tensions are still running quite high with those guys.
Also, the gang's camping trip very nearly ended in catastrophe as Belle and Drew ended up hanging off the edge of a cliff after yet another argument with Lucas! I quite agree with Tony that Ric, Matilda and Lucas shouldn’t have let Belle and Drew run off like that in the middle of a storm - anything could have happened to them. It’s lucky that Lucas came to the rescue and helped them back to safety, although he seemed quite reluctant to admit his heroic deed.
Anyway, I think it’s wonderful that Lucas won the writing competition, and I completely agree with Tony when he says that Lucas should stop being bitter over his break-up from Belle but should try to gain something from this whole mess. Some time away from Summer Bay at Writer’s Camp is probably just what he needs to take his mind of things.
Still, Cassie’s fundraising is certainly going from strength to strength and I’m so happy for her. Dan tells me that he’s found two qualified counsellors who are prepared to volunteer some of their time for the help line. So it’s all looking good for her plans!
Amanda and Kelli’s mum, Kitty, turned up in the Bay this week and then disappeared quite mysteriously. It’s so strange that she’d be leaving what with Amanda’s wedding so close. I’m sure Kelli had something to do with it, I’ve spotted her around with that shady guy and I’m sure he’s not a stripper for Amanda’s hen party! There’s definitely something going on, but I guess only time will tell…
That’s all from me for this week, I’m going to see how Cassie’s calendars are selling down at The Diner!
Love, Sally.
