What happened in the week March 5 – March 9 (episodes 4366 – 4370)

Hello Everyone,

Well, I found myself in a bit of a tight squeeze this week. You see, mine and Brad’s relationship has been moving along quite nicely recently and, unbeknown to me, Ric and Matilda have also been considering taking the next step in their relationship. But of course, we all wanted to keep things quiet so there was actually quite a bit of sneaking about going on.

So of course, we all got busted! I was trying to slip Brad out the back door and Tony appeared with a guilty-looking Matilda who was also trying to creep out. All this sneaking around probably couldn’t have lasted much longer anyway, I just hope Tony doesn’t think that I was encouraging Ric and Mattie or that I was lying to him about not knowing.

In a way, it’s a relief that everyone knows about Brad staying over now - we can be so much more open about our feelings and there’ll be no more tip-toeing around. And Ric and Mattie certainly seemed pleased with Tony deciding to let Matilda to stay over at weekends. I’m glad we can all look back on it now and laugh!

Speaking of happy couples, that new guy in town, James, is certainly making a big impression on Kit. I think it’s wonderful how excited he is about the baby, it must be a great feeling for her to know she won’t be raising the baby by herself and to have someone treat her like a princess. I hear they had a wonderful time at the picnic Sam and Jack organised, I’m just concerned that Kim doesn’t get jealous or any mixed feelings about the whole set-up once the baby arrives.

Unfortunately, the picnic ended horribly. There was a rather dramatic turn of events which saw Sam being chased by one of her nasty ex-husband’s associates, Rusty, when she went to get some water. Luckily, Jack soon figured that something wasn’t right when she didn’t return and he came to the rescue just in the nick of time.

The poor girl was clearly knocked for six after her ordeal, how anyone could do this to the mother of their own child is beyond me. Although Rusty was arrested, he made it clear to Sam that she would never be safe. So as painful as it must have been for her, she decided to take off and move onto somewhere new to keep Rory and herself safe. Must have been a heart-breaking decision to make, but I too know I would do anything to keep my kids safe.

My heart goes out to Sam and to poor Jack too. Just when he was getting his life back on track, he winds up losing two people very close to him. Kim tells me that Jack and Sam were even talking about getting their own place with little Rory, they would have made such a sweet family. I wish Sam and Rory all the best and I truly hope that they stay safe.

I’m also feeling sorry for Lucas after Lisa’s revenge on my little friends (and seemingly star-cross’d lovers) Drew and Belle. I appreciate that Lisa must be feeling hurt by the way she was led on by Drew, but there was no need to humiliate Lucas like that in front of the whole class. After all, he was just as innocent in all this as Lisa. Of course, Belle and Drew are by no means blameless. Drew had plenty of opportunities to be honest with Lisa and Belle should have been more upfront with Lucas. But then, the course of true love never did run smooth…

I’m growing even more concerned for Martha, her increasingly erratic behaviour is so out of character for her and I know Alf wouldn’t be too pleased to hear about it either. Especially as her carelessness is having disastrous consequences for the bar. Tony was left reeling from a robbery that could have been avoided if Martha had just done her job properly. He was extremely disappointed in her as she’d promised him that her stuffing up last week had been a wake-up call.

I’m aware that this smooth-talking Cam has got some kind of hold on her, but he seems to be a dodgy character and I don’t like the sound of this Rocket Club where she tells me Cam’s offered her a job. She’s hardly in a good place to start a new relationship right now, but she won’t listen to any of us, and neither Tony nor I can get through to her.

Well, it appears that Belle now shares my suspicions of Kelli. Belle’s clashed with her aunty on several occasions (usually over Amanda) and don’t see eye-to-eye. I don’t blame Belle though, as I wouldn’t trust Kelli as far as I could throw her! Also, I heard that there was something fishy about the man who was killed in the car crash but I’m sure there’s far more to all this than meets the eye…

I think Cassie’s idea for a counselling helpline is great and I’m really proud of her. She’ll have her work cut out for her in raising the cash to fund it, but like Colleen said, it’s all about community spirit and there’s certainly plenty of that in Summer Bay. Dan’s agreed to back her if she can raise the money so it’s nice to see her happy and focused for a change, especially after everything that’s happened to her recently with Macca.

Well, that’s all from me this week, Brad and I are going over to the Juice Bar to meet Leah and Dan.

Love, Sally.
