Born in England, Nic came to Australia with his parents when he was six months old. His father was a Colonel in the army and then a diplomat, which meant Nic and his family were constantly on the move. He has lived in Washington DC, Singapore, Canberra, Queensland and Adelaide.

Nic did his schooling in Canberra, ACT. His older brother is in the army, but military life did not appeal. His creative personality is inherited from his mother who is an artist.

Nic earned a place at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) and completed his course there in 1996. His enthusiasm and passion for acting, he feels, won him a place there.

His advice to aspiring young actors? "Do as many short courses as you can and go for as many auditions as possible...and don’t be afraid to take risks. Try anything they throw at you, even if it feels wrong! I tell that to my students." Nic teaches drama to students at NIDA and runs a screen acting course every Saturday that goes for the whole year. He also does a lot of voice-over work.

"Because I went to nine or ten different schools, I had to learn to make new friends many times over. It’s made me able to assess people pretty quickly, and actually has been an asset in meeting new groups of people."

Nic has played in nine NIDA productions and has played in the Shakespeare plays Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and the Merchant of Venice.

He has starred in many films, notably playing the lead, David Radcliffe in Occasional Coarse Language; the lead Peter Jess in Powder Burn; Mick, the support lead in My Mother Frank and playing Mitchell Lawrence in The Sugar Factory.

He has appeared in numerous television series: Heartbreak High, Above the Law, (where he played the lead, Matt Bridges), White Collar Blue, All Saints, Blue Heelers (playing guest lead) Water Rats, Wildside (where he played a detective) and others.

Nic and his partner live in the Northern Beaches area and now have a daughter called Ava Lily.

Nic was born under the Zodiac sign of Virgo, the Virgin.
