When Matilda’s father, Jack, decided there was no future on the land, he sent his youngest daughter and her twin, Henry, to boarding school. Mattie and Henry would visit their family during school holidays in Summer Bay.
This became more of a permanent arrangement than just a holiday when their father died. Matilda soon settled down to life in Summer Bay, but there were all kind of learning curves for a girl that can be a bit of a 'drama queen' in her approach to life.
She loves music, movies and clothes.
Mattie used to date Lucas Holden but when they broke up, Mattie was heart-broken. As a result of this stress, issues with self-esteem plus having family members Kit and Robbie lost in the bush, Mattie developed bulimia, an eating disorder. Then her mother died in a tragic car accident, so it's been a tough time for young Matilda. Mattie started to rebuild her life and has been in a strong relationship with Ric. However their relationship was destroyed when Ric was seduced by older woman, Viv Anderson.
She and Ric have sorted things out and Mattie has very bravely said that she will support Ric, even though Viv is pregnant with his child.
