Easy going, patient, with a strong passion for life and an endearingly daggy sense of humour, Brad Armstrong, Principal of Summer Bay High, is the guy everyone can’t help but love.
Brad’s family - in particular his father, a prominent surgeon - assumed he would uphold the family’s reputation in the field of medicine and follow in his footsteps. But Brad yearned for something more, so opted to pursue a career in teaching. His strong will and guts were admired by his sister, Rachel, who was also envious that Brad could always do what his heart desired.
It was whilst teaching disadvantaged kids in WA that Brad met the love his life – the beautiful Emily. Brad was instantly drawn to Emily’s free spirit and calm nature. Their relationship quickly blossomed and Brad proposed nine months after they first set eyes on one another. But their joy was to be short lived.
They discovered Emily was suffering from leukemia. Their move to Summer Bay was inspired by Emily’s desire for Brad to settle near his family so he wouldn’t be alone after she died. Before her death, there were several indications she felt Sally would be good for Brad – Emily wanted him to move on and be happy.
He did move in with Sally, Pippa, Cassie and Ric, and everything was going really well until the wedding day.
