A Sydney native, Jordan Rodrigues has come to share one of his many talents playing Jai Fernandez in the bay.
Jordan first tapped into acting at age 10, rotating with four other boys as the role of Simba in the Disney musical The Lion King. Now ready to test his acting on screen he joins the Home and Away cast.
Jordan was born July 20, 1992. He has one older brother and sister and is a Sydney native. Though music runs in his family, Jordan is the only one who has taken up acting. Since his role on Home and Away Jordan has started home schooling so he can focus best on his academics and his acting career.
Before getting the role as Jai, Jordan juggled school by day and playing Simba in the musical The Lion King at night. After three years of doing this Jordan was excited for the change. “I was ecstatic, it was something I really wanted, it’s so different to musicals and I am having a lot of fun.” He loved the sensation of acting so much that he wanted to keep it up and throughout his acting lessons at Brent Street Studios he studied alongside co-star Charlotte Best, without ever speaking until now.
Aside from the fun of working on Home and Away, Jordan he has taken hip hop, jazz, and acrobatics dance classes and also studied violin for eight years. He is a self taught guitarist. He also loves skiing, snowboarding, body boarding, and being in the outdoors as much as possible.
Jordan feels like he can relate to Jai in that they both were brought up in Australia but are from other countries, and he understands and empathizes for Jai saying “Everyone feels alone at some stage of their life and they think no one can help them with their problems, when really there are people who can help.”
Looks like Jordan has a more positive take on life than his character Jai, not uncommon for a Cancer, the birth sign for July 20th.
