Hi all,
Summer Bay has a battle brewing into an all out witch hunt! Poor Miles is the target of it all and I’m afraid that the Den and the Pier Diner are in trouble too.
It all started with Miles' new take on teaching. And in all honesty, I haven’t seen the students of Summer Bay High as engaged in their learning since Sally left. That’s the problem though, the students are reading, as Christine Jones and several of the other more conservative parents call it, SMUT! I just don’t agree, and these parents haven’t even read the play to know about it. Colleen and her book club have thankfully taken that task upon themselves and are defending him in the P&C meeting that the angry parents have called into order. I can’t afford to lose the adult community’s support, and Christine has already seen it as a place that condones obscene literature, behaviour, and skiving off school. Hopefully they don’t win because they will stop at nothing and are trying to destroy Miles' career. They even took it so far as to publicly burn the play in front of all the students and staff at Summer Bay High.
And poor Melody has to live with that brutal woman every day. At least she and Geoff patched things up so he can be there to support her, that is if Christine lets him anywhere near her daughter! She spotted them kissing in the Den and is pinning that on the play (and me!) and has warned Geoff to stay away from Melody.
It’s good to see those two back on good terms though, and as Belle and Irene had suspected, Aden and Nicole were at the heart of the drama. To think the two of them would try to manipulate innocent young Geoff and tear his and Melody’s relationship up in doing so. Thank goodness nothing bad happened from their schemes, but Roman was pretty upset and gave Nicole an ultimatum for playing with people’s live. Hopefully Roman and Nicole both give each other a second chance. I know he did a lot to find her and start their bond, so I really hope it’s not all in vein
Colleen thinks I’m running myself into the ground with all my work here at The Den. I guess I do spend a lot of my day here, I’m even typing this blog from our computers, but I am really passionate about keeping Dan’s memory alive and providing a fun and safe place for the kids. Besides, it is always a little difficult to get a new venture up and running. I’ll hire some more staff soon.
I haven’t seen much of the others in a while. I do hope they are okay, even Rachel hasn’t been around as much for me to chat with, but she and Tony were out grieving Beth’s death anniversary earlier with Mattie and Ric and I know they’ve got a wedding to plan on top of it all. I’m sure they’re holding up just fine. I’ve just heard they set the date of the wedding! How exciting! Not all is bad in the Bay after all!
With Love
