Hi all,

It’s been an exciting week for me, despite everything that has been going on in everyone else’s lives around here!

I’ve opened The Den, unofficially, but I wanted to get things up and running as everything was ready to go. The computers have been installed and I have the right staff on board, Irene and Roman were ready. We’re just waiting for things to cool down a bit after Sam’s death and then we’ll have a big opening party.

One of the kids already asked me about the official opening, thinking it was already happening, and he asked where the free food was… the cheekiness. I don’t know. But I guess that’s what The Den will be all about, a place for the kids to come and hang out, and be themselves. So I am learning to be patient. I wish Dan was here. Rachel came in and told me she thought Dan would have loved it. I know he would’ve too, he'd be proud right now.

The message board didn’t start off so well, with Annie scribbling some childish remark about Geoff on it that I'm not going to repeat. And there were some obscene jokes and explicit drawings I had to rub off. I was worried they wouldn’t get it and I’d have to get rid of it completely, but finally Annie put up a message that showed what the board is really about – connecting. I think that was a sign for me that this place will work out just fine and will be a place Dan always dreamt of creating. A meeting point for the kids to share and create.

Well the Jack and Martha conspiracy is still doing the rounds, with everyone trying to work out what really happened. I know they couldn’t have had anything to do with Sam’s death. But whatever is going on, it seems Sam’s death is bringing them closer together again. I feel sorry for Roman. He looked really worrried and withdrawn while he was here. I just didn’t know what to say to him. It’s so obvious he is beginning to see Jack as a threat. It's such a shame, he really likes Martha. But Martha and Jack have such a strong history, they never seem to be able to stay away from each other for long. And then Colleen had to come along and put her foot in it once again. She just doesn’t think. Talking in front of Roman about Martha and Jack. There is such a rift going on between her and Morag at the moment, Morag’s really annoyed at Colleen for shooting her mouth off about Martha. And Colleen has some weird notion that Morag is out to get her back. I just hope they sort it out soon, I'll have to put up with Colleen’s ranting around here if they don’t!

Anyway, I'm really fond of Roman and I told him if he needed someone to talk to I am available. He’s a very private man, so I didn’t want him to think I was prying. But I wanted him to know he could talk to me and I wouldn't say anything to anyone. He said he would rather just talk to Martha direct. So I said for what’s it’s worth I wouldn’t leave it too long. I really thought it was time for him to intervene basically, and fight for the woman he loves.

I don’t know if my advice was right or not. Sometimes you think you are doing the right thing but sometimes its best to let people work things out themselves. Roman must’ve approached Martha about Jack, and I walked in on what looked like the end of their relationship. And then I later heard that Martha has moved out of Roman’s place into Ric and Mattie’s. Martha and Jack have just too much history to compete with. Roman’s a great guy, he deserves someone who is going to appreciate him. Not that Martha doesn't, but there's stuff there, you know, so much stuff between her and Jack.

Anyway, I’m not getting involved, I’ve got enough to deal with here. These kids!!! I mean it was so juvenile the way Annie and Melody were behaving with Geoff. Thankfully Belle sorted that one out. I’m so pleased she’s working in here with me, she just gets it better than I do. I guess it’s the generation gap thing. I’ll get used to it after a while. But I think Belle will be teaching me a thing or two along the way.

Martha was arrested this week, it's so hard to believe that she could be involved. She has been released though, thankfully. I’m not sure what’s going on, but Morag is trying her hardest to prove Martha's innocence. I heard she’s got 24 hours to come up with some evidence to prove her theory! I’m not sure how Sam would’ve engineered the whole thing which is what Morag seems to think, but I guess finding out Sam had an identity before she came to Summer Bay does put a new spin on the character behind the girl we all thought we knew.

Jazz came in and told us that she has taken a job as PA to the principal, Mr Bartlett. It was very hard for me to hold back the laughter, you just couldn’t get two people more different than those two. Well, I wish her luck.

She was drooling over Miles though, Sally would be on the first plane back here if she knew Jazz was after Miles! He is such a decent, caring, funny man and Jazz, well let’s just say her morals are a bit off centre, so I can't really see them as a couple.

And last but not least… I’ve heard some interesting news, Roman’s 'daughter' has turned up in the Bay. I didn't even know he had a daughter! Morag passed by and she didn't sound too impressed. Her name's Nicole, and apparently she’s a feisty little thing with attitude. This will be interesting.

With Love

Leah
