What happened in the week 7th April to Friday 11th April (episode 4611 to 4615)

Check in here every week to see what Leah thinks of all things Summer Bay… Email your feedback to homeandaway@seven.com.au

Hi all,

It’s Leah here, taking over from Sally’s weekly blog.

I’m really looking forward to writing the blog actually, writing about all the gossip in the Bay. And is there gossip in the bay right now! But I’ll talk about that later.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know where I am. I am sitting here writing from the new Pier Diner, which I am very excited about. I’m in ‘The Den’, and it feels wonderful.

I was a little bit silly when trying to come up with the name of this place, I realised I need to get a little bit more in touch with the kids around here if I’m going to work with them! Can you believe it, I was going to call The Den “Idantity Crisis”? Yes, yes, looking at it now it is a really dumb name, I know. I realised it instantly when I told Belle, her whole face said it all. I think I was just trying too hard. But the whole point in creating this place is to have a space for the kids to come and hang out, and to want to hang out. So Miles helped me find the name by telling me to keep it simple. The Den is such a great name, it is perfect! The spirit of Dan is alive and well in here.

Sally said she loved doing the blog, she said it was a good way to digest all that was going on around her, and being able to interact on a different level with all the fans.

So back to the Bay…. Well there is so much going on around here at the moment that my head is in a spin. I don’t know what to think of it all. You’ve all heard by now that Sam is dead. And that she actually killed Johnny! It has just been horrifying to hear that someone who was in your life everyday could have done something like that. I can’t even begin to imagine how Jack must feel. Apparently he’s in such a state that Rachel wanted to admit him to hospital to be sedated and kept under constant surveillance.

Nobody knows how Sam died. At first the police thought it was suicide, however after the autopsy it was revealed that she could not have drowned as there wasn’t any water in her lungs, so she was dead before she hit the water! Now her death is being treated as homicide and the police are pointing a few fingers around here. I heard they are suspicious about Jack and Martha, they think they had a motive to kill Sam! But it’s just absurd. Why would they kill her? I mean there was jealousy, but really, killing someone because of it? It just doesn’t seem right. Not Martha, not Jack. It’s insane. I can’t believe Sam’s death has turned in to a murder investigation. They said that after examining the evidence, the police believe her death had to have involved more than one person. I just don’t believe Martha and Jack could do something like that. I’m just so perplexed by it all. We all are.

I really feel for Rory, apparently he is devastated. He’s down in the city living with Sam’s sister and he’s not handling the news too well. My heart goes out to him, I wish I could help him in some way. But I can’t, grieving the loss of someone you love is such a personal thing. It’s a pain you’ve just got to go through. He’s got Sam’s sister there, she’ll give him the support he needs, I hope! They both must be just so overwhelmed by the circumstances surrounding her death. Knowing the truth about Sam and what she did. I don’t think I could’ve come to terms with Dan’s death if it had been revealed afterwards that he was a different man to the one I knew and loved. That’s a whole different story and would take a lot of strength to deal with. I’m not sure I could've survived that. Poor kid, I’m going to try and reach out to him, maybe I can help in some way.

We have postponed the grand opening of the Pier, it’s just not a good time right now to celebrate. I’m disappointed, but it can wait. We’ve decided to open just for a trial period for the moment, to iron out any bumps. And then when everything has settled down around here, we’ll have a formal opening.

Colleen resigned from working here today. She has been having such a tough time of late, coming to terms with her new role as a Stewart and trying to work out where she fits in. And then she said she put her foot in it by telling the police something that could link Martha with Sam’s murder. She said she was only trying to help, and all she can do is muck things up. I really felt for her, she’s just fumbling through everything right now. I’ve talked her in to staying, and she’s agreed, for the time being. I hope she stays. Although she has her moments, she’s such a good worker, and to tell you the truth, she makes me laugh. I like having Colleen around.

There has been some great news for me, Belle has decided to work with me in The Den. Irene wanted her in The Diner but she decided helping kids is more her thing. I'm so pleased, she'll be the bridge I need to help relate with the kids on their level. I'll learn a lot from her I'm sure. I had to pay her a bit more than I first anticipated but I am so happy to have her on board that it is worth the extra cost. I’m glad she’s quit her job at the newspaper, it was hurting her, I could tell.

Well I’ll sign off now. We’ve had some major news this week in the Bay and it doesn’t get any bigger than that! Well I hope it doesn’t. I’m sure Jack and Martha aren’t the ones the police are looking for. They can’t be! Can they?

Oh I Almost forgot. I got an email from Sal this morning. They are already in Thailand, and have found a beautiful little place by the beach in Phuket. Sal said she is so relaxed and so happy. They are just spending all their time lazing about, eating and meeting wonderful people. She said the Thai people are wonderful hosts, always smiling and so welcoming. And she’s addicted to the Massaman Curry and Pad Thai. She said she can’t stop eating it. My lasagne has been replaced! Oh well!

Phuket is her first stop along her journey but she’s already talking of staying. She said she may have found another place to call home! Knowing Sal, she’ll find a way to help in the community there, reshaping and building everyone’s lives for the better.

Maybe this is what she’s been called to do. Help out on a bigger scale. I’m so proud of her.

It will be a great holiday destination for me too. Way to go Sal!

With Love

Leah
