Hello All,
I guess the best thing to come out of this very sad week was Brad’s decision to stay in the Bay. I don’t know what Emily wrote in that letter, but she obviously knew him very well because he has decided not to leave. I’m very proud of him, both for staying and for being so strong during Emily’s beautiful memorial service at the wharf – something that he organised himself. I feel bad that we had a misunderstanding after…
Leah and I were talking about how Emily asked me to look after Brad. Leah asked if I was finding it hard considering that when Brad first arrived, I did feel slightly attracted to him. Unfortunately, Brad overheard that part of the conversation and became very upset, thinking that I’d only been helping him because I liked him. When I caught up with him, I explained that I considered him to be a very good friend. He apologised for his outburst and things are good again.
Lucas’ and Matilda’s friendship is back on track as well, after some pretty rocky times. Lucas told Beth that he thinks Dean is gay, which upset both Mattie and Dean, who continued to deny it. Dean then tried to ‘prove’ his sexuality to Mattie by forcing himself onto her (a terrible thing to do), then, when he’d realised what he’d done, he ran off ashamed. When Mattie caught up to him, he felt so bad about everything he finally confessed he is gay and that the hard time he’d endured from his Dad about it had driven him to drugs, booze, shoplifting and finally the retreat where he met Mattie. She’s such a trooper that girl, she encouraged Dean to talk to his ex-boyfriend Gareth and work things out, despite still feeling hurt. Lucas apologised to her, though, so having him as a friend again will help.
Cassie was really impressed with how Mattie handled it all. Hopefully, it might inspire her to do the right thing by Ric and tell him that she has started seeing Macca again. This lie about Macca and Amanda seeing each other will only buy Macca and Cassie some time and Alf’s going to be very upset when he finds out he’s been lied to.
Amanda has got herself involved in another relationship as well. There’s whispers around town that she’s not resisting strongly enough the advances of her daughter’s boyfriend, Drew. She’s yet to explain what she was doing up at the lookout with Drew when he was abducted. That’s right, Drew was abducted this week! Some thugs grabbed him and put in the back of that car that’s been following him around. Jack found Drew a bit later in the bush and thinks that this scare campaign must have something to do with one of Peter Baker’s old cases – some kind of revenge act or something. Belle’s really worried about Drew, so I can’t imagine how she’s going to feel if she finds out that her boyfriend and her mother have both admitted they have feelings for each other…
Jack headed to the club for a drink after work that day without bothering to tell Martha, who was already hurt by how little time they spend together. She and Jack ended up having a fight about it, which was inevitable, I guess, seeing as Jack has been acting like a single man lately. Unfortunately, after having lunch with Robbie and Tasha (who have asked Jack and Martha to be Ella’s godparents) they had another fight and things seem to be a lot more serious than Jack first thought. Martha’s staying at Alf’s now and has been talking about a trial separation. Jack’s devastated and so is Martha…
Kim and Rachel have been having some troubles as well, but it looks like they’ve managed to work things out. For the first time in their relationship, their age difference has presented a problem: Rachel wants to have children soon, but Kim wants to get through all of his ‘Twenties’ first. Dan and Leah encouraged them to have a rational conversation about it (after they pretty much decided to break up and Rachel started packing her things) and they worked out a compromise: they’ll have kids in 5 years. That is, if Kim can. He received a call from his doctor about his post-mumps check up and he’s been very serious since. I hope everything’s ok.
Well, that’s pretty much it from me this week. Before I go, I thought I’d tell you how lovely it was to hear that Robbie has been keeping a ‘To Ella’ journal. He’s worried about his upcoming court case and he wants to make sure his daughter gets to know him no matter what happens. Such a lovely thing to do, but also quite sad. I’m confident things will be ok, though. Fingers crossed.
Love Sally.
