Hello All,

I don’t quite know how to tell you this – I’m still coming to terms with it myself – but Brad’s wife, Emily, passed away this week. Knowing that she didn’t have long to live hasn’t made it any easier to deal with. Such a beautiful girl and such a beautiful couple she made with Brad. It’s just so sad…

I was making dinner for Brad a couple of nights before Emily died when Leah asked if seeing what Emily and Brad were going through was hard for me, what with the recent death of my own husband, Flynn. It was then that I realised it’s actually been helping me deal with my own grief.

When Brad began to talk about Emily and the strain started to show, I reassured him that it’s better to let out his emotions, than keep them bottled up like I did. That’s when the phone rang. It was the hospital informing Brad that Emily’s condition had worsened. I arrived at the hospital soon after Brad and when he briefly left Emily to fetch her favourite poem, she told me she was experiencing no pain for the first time in a long time. It was just like what happened with Flynn. She then handed me a letter to give to Brad once she was gone.

Emily died in Brad’s arms, watching the sunrise over the ocean, just like on their first date.

Shortly after her death, Brad announced to everyone that he was leaving the bay. When I found him I gave him the letter from Emily. It’s my belief that Emily knew Brad would want to leave and in the letter, she urges him to stay. I hope he does. There are a lot of people here who care about him…

There’s been some other news this week. Jack tells me that Jimmy from Forensics was able to identify Rice as the man who checked out the mysterious Peter Baker hair samples from one of the arson fires. It meant that Rice must have been the Pyro. After a chase, Jack and the others arrested Rice, but unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be the end of it. Rice wants protection and won’t name the person who put him up to framing Drew, but he did say that Drew is in more danger than anyone realises…

Unfortunately, that warning was confirmed when Drew was found unconscious by Amanda and Belle – someone had knocked him out! Drew doesn’t know who hit him, but he thinks Dean may have been involved, but I’m not so sure about that. It seems Dean has been hiding something, but it’s got nothing to do with Drew: the mysterious boy Dean’s been seen with can’t be his brother as Lucas saw the two of them hugging!

Dean certainly has some explaining to do to Matilda, but as I understand it, Lucas has told her and somehow Dean’s convinced her that there’s been a misunderstanding. Lucas isn’t happy, but you know what? I don’t think Dean is either. I think the poor kid’s in a confused state of mind right now and I’m sure the fact that he’s registered as a missing person and believes his family doesn’t care about him isn’t helping.

Speaking of confused teenage boys, it appears Drew really has developed a crush on Amanda. Apparently, he’s confessed to his girlfriend’s mother that he has a major crush on her. Of all the women in Summer Bay to become infatuated with! Something tells me Amanda is going to struggle with resisting his advances…

I do have some good news to tell you, though: Robbie and Tasha have announced they’re going to have a christening for baby Ella. I can’t wait for that one – oh no, must dash! I’ve just found out that Alf has gone off to confront Macca about him and Cassie. Apparently, Alf’s put together a few clues and has found out they’ve gotten back together – without telling Ric. It seems Alf’s figured out this ‘woman with a girlfriend’ Colleen heard Macca talking about with Amanda is really Cassie. I hope something can be worked out – this whole situation is starting to get really messy.

Love Sally.
