Hi all,
Sally here for another update of life in the Bay. What a week of dramas!! We’ve had new faces, secrets revealed, teen pregnancy, averted crisis, actual crisis and more! Still no word on our lost loved ones: more on that later…
Rachel hit rock-bottom this week as the stress of Kim's absence really took its toll. Nothing could have shocked me more than the news that she slapped Leah – the one person who’s always been there for her through this terrible time! What with all her uncharacteristic drinking and drug-taking, I encouraged Leah to give Rachel an ultimatum, and to make it clear that kind of behaviour was definitely not OK. (After all the dramas with Macca hitting Cassie I think I’m particularly adamant about saying no to violence, in any form, whatever the reason). Well, we couldn’t have been more surprised when Rachel packed a bag and took off to Kim’s house!
The new face I mentioned before was Brad, Rachel’s brother. He drove up to see his sis and I think got as big a shock as I did on seeing her state. Brad’s a stand-up guy, but even beneath his jokey exterior and easy-going way, I could tell he was really worried. So when he and I decided to visit Rachel at Kim’s to check up on her, the last thing we expected to be doing was kicking the door in – she was passed out on the floor having a fit! We took her to the hospital and she’s doing a lot better now – I think her brush with being on the other side of the hospital bed has straightened her out somewhat.
It was great meeting Brad: It’s weird, but I felt an immediate connection with him. He was very easy to talk to: the kind of person you could talk about anything with. Plus he’s got a great sense of humour, which I love in anyone. It’s the first time since Flynn’s death I’ve felt this way about a man. Not romantic per se – just a connection.
In another turn of events it was revealed this week that Lee is pregnant – to Lucas! I must say I’m deeply surprised by this: Lucas has always been an extremely responsible young boy, plus I really did think Matilda and he would end up dating again. Now it seems one poor slip of judgement will affect his future. Still, there’s something that doesn’t quite add up with this story. I just hope Lee’s family are as supportive as the Hunters when she finally tells them. I think the news has been particularly hard on Maddie. I saw her just before indulging in a huge slice of chocolate cake at the Diner, tears in her eyes, poor little thing.
Tasha's baby seems to be fine after a little scare earlier in the week – I’ve been noticing Jack and her spending more and more time together this week, which I suppose with both their partners missing, seems only natural. Yes, no more news from the lost ones: and still more bad news filtering through just now: the search is to be called off. Amanda's money finally ran out. This is hard for me to write about… we’ll need a miracle now…
Thanks for all your letters and words of support, I enjoy reading them.
Til next week,
Love Sally
