YOU CAN CHANGE THE WAY THE WORLD TREATS CANCER...

The team have completed the emotional and exhusting Great Walk to Beijing. Their goal is to raise five million dollars to build The Olivia Newton-John Cancer Centre's Wellness Centre. It will provide much needed complementary therapies such as support programs for patients and their families, meditation, relaxation, massage, art and music therapy, nutrition, exercise, aromatherapy.

The majority of the walkers have either suffered cancer or been close to someone with the disease, which makes them passionate about this cause. Rachel sent us these updates along the way and make sure you check out the picture gallery.

Rachel's Beijing Blog

Day 12: "We are waiting at Dunhuong Airport for our plane to Xian the home of the famous Terracotta Warriors! Yesterday everyone was pleased to have a day off. A few of us went for a camel ride in the beautiful sand dunes of Dunhuong. Very romantic! I have never been on a camel before...it was good to have someone else do the walking for a while! A lot of people had savage blisters and some had heat exhaustion from Wednesday's 20 km flat desert walk...I have never seen such a flat straight stretch of road.....even in Australia! I think this is the last of the flat walking for a while though so I didn't mind....back to veeeeery steep inclines in the next stage. Aching muscles ....bring it on!

Day 16: "We have gone from the Gobi desert to the snowfields of Shanxi province in in 3 days. Day 16 was spent about 300 kms west of Beijing near a mining town called Datong. The thermals I have had in the bottom of my bag have come in very handy. We have been walking in -3 degees. It is freezing but an incredibly beautiful winter wonderland....in spring! We are heading closer and closer to our destination. A few people are leaving today but new ones arriving too...Joan Collins and Cliff Richard...looking forward to meeting them."

Day 22: "Today we are back to massive steep inclines at a part of the wall in Badaling. After having to walk with no shoes on yesterday because his bag got lost Ian thorpe battled on. There is a lot of laughing due to hysterical tiredness. The views are incredible though. The sense of cameraderie is strong. I have blisters all over my feet and my clothes need a good wash but I am having the time of my life!"

Now the real work starts. With the fantastic support of over 7000 sponsors, the team have raised A$1,826,290. The target is $5,000,000 to make this amazing project a reality. You can still sponsor Rachel and check out more photos and videos at Great Walk to Beijing
