Sam Vs Martha – it’s on!
The return of Sam and Rory to the Bay has once again thrown everyone’s lives into chaos. And we’re not even just talking about the fact that this week Rory was kidnapped, Shane was killed and as a result Jack’s future as a cop was shakier than a cat on a washing machine. We’re talking about the oldest triangle in the history of geometry: the love triangle.
Sometimes you don’t what you’ve got till it’s whipped out from under your nose. Call it wanting what you can’t have or call it truly shocking timing, but you’d have to have a heart of glass not to feel for poor Martha. I mean, she’s barely out of that pole-dancing uniform and back into the regular clothes than the (possible) object of her (possible) affection is whipped away from her! So is it fair that Sam gave Jack the ultimatum she did: stop hanging with Martha or she’s Audi5000?
We couldn’t call it so had to rope in two of Bay’s best judgement of moral circumstances, Drew and Belle, to decide (Alright, so Sally and Brad were busy and these guys were doing nothing but arguing and making out OK?)
Belle : I think it’s totally fair. Sam has a kid, and any fool could see Martha and Jack are so not over. So yeah, she definitely needs to get his skinny-dipping ass in line.
Drew : Hey, hey, hey! Hang on a sec, Sam shouldn’t be telling Jack what to do with his spare time. She’s been back in the Bay five minutes; I reckon she should chill out.
Belle : Oh, so Jack should be able to have his cake and eat it too, is that what you think?
Drew: Belle, I didn’t say that, I’m just saying from a guy’s perspective that as soon as you make something off-limits it becomes more attractive…
Belle : OK, I’ll accept that, but I’m still sticking to me theory that it’s totally Sam’s right to lay down the law. The woman knows what she wants...
Drew: Or maybe she just knows what’s inevitable and she’s trying to it off.
Belle : What’s inevitable?
Drew : That Jack and Martha are gonna hook up.
Belle: You’re dreaming. Look I know there’s sexual tension between those two but if it was gonna happen, it would have happened by now – or they wouldn’t have broken up in the first place!
Drew: Oh that’s rich Taylor, you don’t think couples who break up get back together again. Um, hello?
Belle : Forget it Curtis, I don’t even know why I bother to trying to explain things to you.
Drew: Belle, hey come back…
Should Sam have given Jack the ultimatum? Tell us what you think on homeandaway@seven.com.au
Gabrielle: No, Sam shouldn't have given Jack that ultimatum! Jack has never done
anything that gives her reason to not trust him so until he does, she has
absolutely no right to force him to make that horrible choice when if she
really trusted him she would know that he would never go behind her back.
Whether Martha and Jack end up together or not - I personally think they
will - is beside the point, they will always be part of each other's lives
and care about each other and Sam either has to accept that or move on.
Trust is a really important part of a relationship, especially for Jack, so
if she can't even do that after everything they've been through together I
don't think they're going to last very long anyway. Martha + Jack = TRU
LUV!!!
Saz: Jack should just choose Martha as they still do love each other. Sam has only just come back to the Bay and shouldn't be telling Jack what he can and can't do with his friends.
Jack and Martha belong together, anyone can see that!!
Meg: I'm from W.A. and I'm a HUGE Home and Away fan. I don't think Sam should have given Jack an ultimatum. That is very unfair and silly. She should chill out. I was getting to quite like Sam but this has somewhat spoilt her in my view. She can't tell Jack who to hang out with and who not to hang out with. Very unnecessarily overprotective.
Rocky: Jack probably don't need to hear the ultimatum in the sense that Rory wants
Jack to be his stepfather because Rory got along well with him the first
time around, so I don't find that surprising. As for Sam, this is just as
confusing as Kim & Rachel (I'm in NZ, so I've only just seen the episode
when Hugh gave Rachel his ultimatum. Gosh, I love that simultaneous lines
from Kim/Rachel,Hugh/Kit).
Now, Jack & Martha were married, but Sam does have a kid, although Jack is
not the biological father, now that Rory lost his father, Jack should be
responsible for him, which is fair enough. But, the real question is back
to the issue about Martha.
Martha could become the new Rachel. She already knew what Jack's worst
qualities are, being an inflexible cop and all, so Martha probably knew that
despite Jack's best efforts, they will never be together as an item.
Going back to Drew's & Belle's little debate, I think Belle is correct that
Jack should stick by Sam, and stop trying to rekindle the flames with
Martha, but Sam doesn't need to make it that obvious, Jack knows already.
Rory's hurt is more than what Jack needs to make the right decision, so I
hope he understands.
As for Martha, what Sam did could save another potential Kim/Kit/Hugh/Rachel
situation. Sure, Rory is a lot older than Archie, but there are potential
that the problem will be similar if Jack chose to still go with Martha and
not Sam & leaving Rory without a father.
