Our Favourite Things

The stars of Summer Bay dish the dirt on what tops their What’s Hot list… and yep, it includes cakes!

Amy Matthews (Rachel Armstrong)
Favourite Toy: Bunny. He was just a rabbit [laughs], he was it. I didn’t go anywhere without him, had him in my bed until I was 15 or something crazy! I probably shouldn’t admit that!
Favourite Dessert: I like banana cake, a nice moist banana cake. And Carol’s cakes, who does all our cooking here, all our props cooking. She makes such good cakes! I like French Danish pastries as opposed to candy or chocolate.
Favourite City: At the moment it’s probably Krabi in Thailand, which is where the tsunami hit. I visited it a few years before: we were there exactly a year before which was a bit scary. I think about it sometimes – what happened to it, because it was so beautiful where we stayed.
Favourite Thing to do on a Sunny Day: Read the paper in the park.
On a Rainy Day: Watch a DVD in bed.
Favourite HAA Storyline: I liked the Dr Helpman/ sexual harassment storyline, that was great. I liked working with John Noble, he was great. I had just got on my feet with the character and the show and let go of a few insecurities and started to feel really good about it and had a really good time. Kim getting mumps was also pretty fun – didn’t last for too long, but it was funny.

Bobby Morley (Drew Curtis)
Favourite Toy: I think it was a little Raphael figurine. I’ve got two sisters and one brother and we were all a Ninja Turtle. I wanted to be Leonardo but my brother was the eldest so he was Leonardo. But I actually think he was the best out of them all – he was a bit of a bad boy, much like Drew! He was a precursor of what was to come.
Favourite Dessert: When I was a kid it was Viennas and now it’s Almond Magnum. Got into them a couple of years ago and haven’t been able to kick the habit.
Favourite City: Melbourne. Haven’t really been to many… Went to Manila, but that wasn’t fun. There’s so much poverty over there and the Western influence is really devastating. I’ve never seen so many billboards in my life, and so many stray dogs and cats. I guess most cities are really loud but this place just never gets quiet. So Melbourne, just because I’ve spent a lot of time there.
Favourite Thing To Do On A Sunny Day: I’ve been doing a bit of rock-climbing outdoors – it’s good to get away and get some fresh air.
On A Rainy Day: Read, watch movies… if it’s a cool storm, sit out and watch it, but if it’s just a dreary old day, sit inside and read.
Favourite HAA Storyline: I like the scenes where Drew was drugged up and wondering around in the bush, just cuz it was heaps of fun getting covered in mud and walking around and being drugged. Means I didn’t have to act. Just kidding!!

Ada Nicodemou (Leah Patterson-Baker)
Favourite Toy: I had a teddy bear – I don’t even know if the teddy bear had a name – but he was passed down from one of my cousins. He was seven or eight when he gave it to me, so he was quite dirty! He was a really big bear and I wouldn’t let Mum wash it.
Favourite Dessert: My favourite topic! So many, so many… Anything creamy, like a crème custard, or a tart. Panacotta would be up there.
Favourite City: Besides Sydney… Rome? I love big cities. I think they’re all very different. Paris is magical, just like everyone says, and it’s romantic, it’s beautiful. Rome’s exciting; there’s always so many things going on. I remember turning the corner and I saw the Colosseum – you just stumble on these really ancient buildings. London is fast and exciting - there’s always stuff on, cool people walking around and cool clothes and nightclubs and bookshops. You come back to Sydney and you go, ‘Jeez, it’s really tiny here!’. I haven’t been to New York yet, I’m going there next year.
Favourite Thing to do on a Sunny Day: Go and have lunch by the beach with a bunch of friends, and sit outside somewhere and read.
On a Rainy Day: Sit inside with the one you love and watch a DVD. I love The Sopranos – I’ve got the box set and watch that a lot. About to watch Entourage. I love Enough Rope. I love foreign films, and I could watch Notting Hill over and over and still cry in that one scene.
Favourite HAA Storyline: Vinnie going to jail and leaving. Great working experience, great scripts. Really emotional time obviously, because I was losing one of my best friends - Ryan and I were very close - so that was sad, but at the same time I feel we both did some stuff we can be proud of.

Nicholas Bishop (Peter Baker)
Favourite Toy: It was a little Golliwog – Mickey was his name.
Favourite Dessert: That’s a hard one because I’m a bit of a chocoholic – some form of chocolate cake.
Favourite City: Sydney. I love the landscape – the beaches and the harbour – but its got a great vibe and energy to it.
Favourite Thing to do on a Sunny Day: Sit at the beach with a book.
On a Rainy Day: I’ve got a huge DVD collection, so inside with a movie or a book.
Favourite HAA Storyline: Zoey’s return. I do love the cop stuff, it does add a very different element to the show, and you can really sink your teeth into a lot of the location stuff. That sort of storyline is just bullet-proof drama, you can’t really go wrong with it.
